WEIRD, BIZARRE and UNUSUAL (.1254)

OFFER THE THIEF HALF-PRICE?
The Des Moines Police Department, responding to the burglary of a vehicle on March 8, 2015, were told by the owner somebody tried to steal his truck but instead broke into the driver’s side door and stole a sack. What was the loss? According to the complainant, it was "a bag of dog feces." The Des Moines Register reported the value of the theft to be about $1. WELL, HE COULDN’T “BARK” A CAB
"I have had plenty of people wave me down for help, but I have never actually been flagged down by a dog in need of rescue before. It was as if he recognized my uniform and knew I was there to rescue him." That’s what RSPCA inspector Stephanie Law said after Alfie, a 7-year-old Yorkshire terrier, jumped in front of her van in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. A computer chip located Alfie’s owner, Kirsty Mitton, 23, some 100 miles away. (http://news.sky.com/story/1461165/stolen-yorkshire-terrier-flags-down-rspca-van)
NOW THIS DENIAL REALLY SUCKS
A Vietnam War veteran, Arnold Breitenbach, of St. George, Utah, was surprised when he was forbidden to have a license plate designated CIB 69, representing the Combat Infantryman's Badge he received and the year he was awarded the Purple Heart. The Utah Division of Motor Vehicles denied his request, “citing state regulations prohibiting the use of the number 69 because of its sexual connotations.” (http://www.9news.com/story/news/local/2015/04/11/vietnam-vet-license-plate-denied-69/25648465/)

WICKED WINDOW SHOPPING
Some 200 prostitutes held a protest in Amsterdam, in April 2015, by marching through that city’s red light district, carrying signs proclaiming “Save our windows.” That occurred after Mayor Eberhard van der Laan announced plans to rejuvenate that famous area by shuttering windows where these females advertise their bodies posing in skimpy negligĂ©es. (http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/04/09/amsterdam-prostitutes-protest-against-closure-sex-workers-windows-in-red-light/))
SHOULD “CHAP HER BUTT,” TOO
Stephanie Fragoso thought it was an April fool’s joke when she got “pulled over” while sitting at a red light on the first of April, and handed a $200 ticket for ‘distracted driving.’ For what? For soothing her chapped lips with just a bit of lip balm. Quoting Fragoso: “He (the policeman) said 'it could have been anything; you could have been drinking water, shaving your legs.'”  (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3025616/Stephanie-Fragoso-gets-200-ticket-NHP-putting-lip-balm-crackdown-distracted-driving.html)
WORTH MORE IF UNFLUSHED?
Bet you don’t care, but in August 2010, the commode John Lennon used (1969-72) at his residence in Berkshire, England, sold for 9,500 pounds (about $14,740) at a Liverpool auction. (http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2010/aug/28/lennon-auction-beatles-memorabilia)

COULD BE EASIER TO STUDY

Standardized placement exams are very important in some Asian countries. An example occurred in March 2015 during testing in India’s Bihar state. That’s where dozens of parents were seen climbing walls outside a test center, to pass answers to their children. This week-long secondary school exam, which tests 1.4 million students, has early-on seen some 300 people arrested, 750 students expelled and nine bags of cheat sheets confiscated. THAT’LL TEACH HER

Cairo, Egypt – Forensics authorities have fired a doctor after he claimed a protester, Shaimaa el-Sabbagh, was shot from 26 feet away and died when shotgun pellets managed to penetrate her heart and lungs because she was “very skinny.” http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/03/24/egypt-forensics-authority-fires-doctor-who-said-woman-shot-by-police-died/

NOT BORING, BUT NOT NECESSARY
After dancer Shana Vaughan-Gabor, of the Cirque De La Femme, appeared on Chicago's WGN-TV’s live Morning Show, the station apologized for “unintentional porn”, especially to parents of children who watched. Within seconds of Vaughan-Gabor’s appearance, sparks are seen flying as she takes a power tool to a small metal box attached to her crotch. The male host stated, “I've been waiting my whole life to meet a woman like this." HIS CORPSE SHOULD SUE!
Ramon Estrada, 62, was set to be released from prison in Draper, Utah, April 21, 2015, but never made it. He had been scheduled for dialysis at the prison’s treatment center on April 3, but the dialysis technician (provided by the University of Utah Hospital clinic) didn’t show up… and no one showed up the next day either. On Sunday April 5, Estrada died of an apparent heart attack related to renal failure. (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/chi-utah-inmate-dialysis-20150407-story.html)
SOMEBODY SHOULD SUE HIM!
Many lawsuits are filed by inmates with nothing better to do. In 2014, Dale Maisano, 63, serving 15 years for aggravated assault, filed 3,613 cases from prison in Florence, Arizona. Add earlier jail time incarcerations and he has filed a total of 6,076 times. (Maisano told USA Today he needs mental help.) DRUGS WILL RULE BEYOND HUMANS
Considering all the violence in the Middle East, hard as it is to believe, drug gangs in Central America have made Honduras the world’s highest per capita murder rate country. However, according to the National Civic Police, El Salvador is on pace to surpass Honduras with 481 homicides in March 2015, and 73 more the first 5 days of April. Out of a population of only 6 million, El Salvador has some 70,000 gang members, with about 10,000 already in prison. ANOTHER CHANCE TO LOSE
After poor investment advice from Credit Suisse Group AG cost clients millions, in March 2015, they agreed to pay back $16.25 million, but only $10 million in actual money. Credit Suisse promised to return the remainder by providing $6.25 million in more financial advice. AT LEAST THEIR AIM SUCKED
Dustin Theoharis was shot 16 times by police, but he told the Seattle Times, "Sometimes (police) make mistakes.” He’d been napping on a friend’s couch in Puyallup, Washington, when police arrived to arrest the friend's son. When Theoharis reached for his ID, two officers opened fire, hitting him in the jaw, both upper and lower arms, wrist, hand, shoulder, abdomen and both legs. - He was later awarded $5.5 million. HENNEPIN CO. INMATE 2009034708
Knowing he’d be arrested and probably convicted for running a $53 million Ponzi scheme in the Minneapolis area, in December 2009, Gerard Cellette Jr., 44, walked into a county judge’s chambers and offered to begin serving time. The judge granted his wish. Technically he was jailed awaiting trial.( http://patrickpretty.com/2009/12/10/ponzi-suspect-to-judge-jail-me-judge-to-ponzi-suspect-ok-minnesotas-gerard-frank-cellette-jr-booked-into-hennepin-county-jail-on-36-felony-counts/)
