MOST EXPENSIVE FOOD
White winter truffles, also called Alba truffles, are very pricey, costing $6,000 to $10,000 per pound, depending on the time of year and availability. Less expensive truffles include white summer truffles and black winter and summer truffles. The largest single truffle known (4.16 pounds – nearly the size of an American football) sold Dec. 6, 2014, at a Sotheby’s auction in New York. The winning bid? $61,250. (The AP, 12-7-14)
FWI - FLYING WHILE INTOXICATED
You’ve probability heard of birds eating fermented berries, then flying into trees or crash-landing? The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. News reported November 4, 2014, so many Bohemian Waxwings in Canada's Yukon became intoxicated the Environment Yukon organization set up an "avian drunk tank” to provide safer sobering surroundings. 
ELIMINATES FATHER’S DAY
Indonesia's holy "Sex Mountain" on the island of Java allows Muslims to feel prosperous and optimistic if they have sex with total strangers. In November 2014, a reporter with Australia's "SBS Dateline" TV program visited Mount Kemukus, near Surakarta, to watch the mass adultery. This practice, which originated in the 16th century, allows these devout pilgrims to pray, bathe and pair off with non-spouses seven times, 35 days apart. HE WAS A REAL SWINGER
Terry Lee Dunn, 61, was working as a medical consultant at a Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education center near St. Louis, when his son, Andrew Dunn, 31, dropped by for a visit on Dec. 4, 2014. He was there to present his father with a baseball bat... on his head. Meaning, soon the younger Dunn was jailed, charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. (The AP, 12-5-14)    
NUCLEAR WAR, PLEASE GO SLOW
Pentagon studies of America's nuclear missile infrastructure, released in November 2014, reported the fact nuclear warheads have to be attached with a very special wrench, though the Air Force had only one ... with which to service 450 missiles, housed at three different bases. One official admitting they shared that tool by FedExing it back-and-forth; saying no one had checked in years “to see if new tools were being made.” (New York Times, 11-13-14)
CROCODILE – 1, HUMAN - 0
If you play golf, what’s the worst luck you’ve had? Jacques van der Sandt, 29, was playing at a course next to a wildlife reserve near Johannesburg, when his ball veered away. This caused him to enter the reserve, apparently without noticing his surroundings? It took park rangers two hours to locate and kill a crocodile, to retrieve what remained of van der Sandt’s remains. (The AP, 12-5-14)

ABSENT MINDED NO-BRAINER
Dozens of human brains were found missing from a lab at the University of Texas in Austin. Some thought the formaldehyde-packed jars were stolen for use as Halloween pranks. But an investigation found the 40-60 jars were just thrown away 12 years prior because they either contained multiple brains or were in poor condition. (The AP, 12-4-14)
HE NEEDED WEANING OFF THIS
Federal prosecutors say Wassim Hassan Elsaleh, 36, a legal permanent resident from Lebanon, living in Houston, was running an infant formula theft ring. He’s accused of buying stolen infant formula and other products, then repackaging and shipping them to out-of-state wholesalers. (The AP, 12-4-14) 
DOES THIS MAKE SENSE?
In November of 2014, a gardener, Annabel Honeybun, was hired by the House of Commons to pull color-changing leaves from trees on the Westminster Palace grounds in London. Those who hired her figured it would be cheaper than waiting for them fall upon the ground.(Daily Telegraph, 11-14-14)

HE WRECKED PATIENT’S WEE-WAY
A California surgeon, Dr. Charles Coonan Streit, a licensed urologist for 41 years, has been placed on three years’ probation. That’s because he relied on memory, instead of medical records, in removing his patient’s healthy kidney, not the diseased one. (The AP, 12-4-14)
SUPERIOR EDUCATION OUTSIDE USA
Education is so important in South Korea, on Nov. 13, 2014, when tests for 650,000 high-school-age kids were rescheduled at a later hour, large companies and government agencies told employees to wait and come to work late… all to keep traffic lighter for students traveling to the 1,257 test centers. Also, to lessen any disturbing noise, sixty-five commercial flights were changed to avoid take-off and landing during a 40-minute English-listening test. (Daily Telegraph, 11-13-14)
A COLD-HEARTED MOTHER
If you found your child unresponsive, what would you do, call 911? When Amber Keyes, of Houston, Texas, found her 9-year-old  daughter, Ayahna Comb, who suffered from cerebral palsy, unconscious, she placed her inside the refrigerator  ...for 6 months. An autopsy showed the child died from malnutrition and dehydration. (The AP, 12-4-14)

 HIS CELL GOT HIM A CELL
The Des Moines Register reported Dec. 2, 2014, Marvin Tramaine Hill II, 21, had been arrested and charged with simple domestic assault. This occurred when his pregnant wife woke him around 1 p.m. with a McChicken sandwich, causing him to throw it at her. Next, while she attempted to clean the mayonnaise from her face in their bathroom, he recorded it on a cellphone, later sharing same with police ...before he was taken away. (FYI: His fist must have been thrown with the sandwich; He broke her nose during the incident.)
OVER-HEATED IN A HOT TUB
On Nov. 30, 2014, Austin Adams, 18, and Michael Gordon, 33, met Douglas Tench, 21, at a gay nightclub in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and decided to share the hot tub at a private home. There, an argument over which of the three was the highest paid male escort, causing them to physically fight. But, finally, Gordon managed to separate Adams and Tench, allowing Tench to run to another house and call 911.  
HOW MANY RELIGIONS ARE BORN
Vice.com reports the fastest growing religion south of the USA is "Santa Muerte" (Our Lady of the Holy Death), an unauthorized byproduct of Roman Catholicism.  With 80,000 Mexicans killed in drug-related violence since 2006, "People feel more comfortable asking (Santa Muerte) for favors they probably shouldn't ask a Catholic saint for."
