WEIRD, BIZARRE and UNUSUAL (.1064)

WASTE OF MONEY, TIME AND LIVES
A recent report by John Sopko, the special inspector general for Afghanistan, stated the U.S. government wasted $7.6 billion on the so called “drug war.” The Afghan opium crop provides the raw material for most of the world’s heroin, which reached a record production high in 2013, and is expected to increase yearly. A PICKUP WITH A TANK FULL
When it comes to illegal aliens sneaking into the U.S., new ways continue to pop up. For instance, on October 17, 2014, Border Patrol agents encountered a flatbed pickup at an immigration checkpoint on Farm Road 2644 near Eagle Pass, Texas. This allowed their dogs to sniff-out six men hiding inside the vehicle’s diesel auxiliary gas tank. (The AP, 10-23-14)
STEVE JOBS AND BARNACLE SEX
What did your computer cost? During a New York auction on October 22, 2014, one of 50 Apple computers made in Steve Jobs’ garage in 1976 was acquired by the Henry Ford museum for $905,000. Also auctioned, but no price given, a letter written by Charles Darwin to a colleague concerned the sex lives of barnacles. (The AP, 10-25-14)
