WEIRD, BIZARRE and UNUSUAL (.1049)

BETTER THAN 2-CANS-AND-STRING
You still use AOL dial-up, or remember what it was like? Though AOL lost 21 million subscribers in 15 years, the remaining 2.3 million dial-up subscribers today pay on average $20 monthly, a healthy part of AOL’s quarterly profits of some $122 million. (Quartz, 8-6-14)
CAN YOU AFFORD FRIES, TOO?
If you like burgers, the “Glamburger” would probably especially tickle your taste buds. Chris Large, chef at Honky Tonk in London, created this gourmet meal containing black truffle, a Kobe Wagyu beef patty from Japan, lobster, beluga caviar, venison, a duck egg and an edible gold leaf. This 2,618-calorie creation is priced at $1,768. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/10/08/worlds-most-expensive-burger-1768_n_5951670.html?utm_hp_ref=weird-news)
HE GOT HIS WISH
When American Matthew Miller, 24, entered North Korea in April 2014, he told the Associated Press he wanted to enter prison in order to secretly investigate human rights there. Convicted of espionage, in only 90-minutes, he will “investigate” for six years while doing hard labor. (The AP, 9-14-14)
